In 2001, the Wisconsin Center District Board of Directors began in earnest the ambitious renovation and reconfiguration of the historic 1909 Milwaukee Auditorium. Renamed the Milwaukee Theatre the project converted an outdated, flat-floored horseshoe shaped arena into a state-of-the-art 4,000 seat theater and concert hall.

Sustainable Strategies
  • Very low duct air velocities ensure minimal air noise.
  • A new, highly efficient heating plant converts steam to hot water at a rate of 5,200 lbs./hr.
  • Lighting is structured for ultimate flexibility, in both convention and concert settings.
  • New State-of-the-art Sound System
  • Fiber Optic Lighting in the Grand Entry Court and three levels of gallery walkways
  • Replacement of Piping and Plumbing fixtures to ensure extraneous noise does not travel
  • Upgrade of main utilities to accommodate larger usage demands.
