2004 |
Total Project Cost |
$4.2 million |
Project Scope |
Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Commissioning |
Villa Park’s new police station not only features increased office space and a much needed shooting range, but also many sustainable principles inside and out. This unique building site effectively manages storm water run-off and significantly reduces the amount of rain entering the sewer system. Within the building, IBC Engineering employed several strategies to help reduce energy consumption and provide fresher air circulation. |
 |
- Permeable paving in parking areas reduce storm water run-off
- Green roof reduces heating and cooling costs, heat island affects and storm water run-off
- Daylighting and occupancy controls will reduce electrical energy consumption from estimated 180,000 KwH to an estimated 124,000 KwH annually
- High performance windows, coupled with an air-to-air heat recovery system, will reduce annual electric energy consumption for cooling from 46,000 KwH to 34,000 KwH
- Variable Air Volume (VAV) air distribution systems will reduce annual electrical energy consumption from 56,800 KwH to 15,400 KwH
