Project Scope |
Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing |
The 40-year old curtain wall construction suffered from water leaks, poor energy performance and significant safety concerns. With a bit of ingenuity and a lot of engineering the newly renovated school provides a safer, more energy-efficient building envelope; greater year round comfort; increased indoor air quality, and better lighting. |
 |
- The existing curtain wall system was replaced using a custom wall system built atop the existing foundation.
- New wall assembly allows installation of a R30 brick face that was consistent with other schools in the district.
- Along with other energy conservation measures, an ice storage system provides full air-conditioning without an increase in electrical operation costs or upgrade in electrical service.
- The existing gas-converted steam boilers were replaced with high-efficient hot water boilers, increasing comfort and efficiency.
- Two temporary classrooms were replaced with permanent structures.
- An integrated building management system and the replacement of three 8.3 kV substations allow the school to monitor the mechanical systems, as well as rates and demand charges.
- The project also included a new elevator and interior upgrades in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
