This project started as a detailed 2014 Feasibility Study to review existing operational and maintenance issues being experienced in the campus central plant consisting of four 700 HP high-pressure steam boilers. Boiler feed water quality issues were identified along with boiler control deficiencies. The feasibility study included cost estimating and was approved to move forward as a capital improvement project. The 2016 Phase One engineering project included replacement of one of the two plant deaerators, replacement of damaged feed water economizers on the boiler stacks, re-piping of these systems for greater efficiency, and the implementation of a complete boiler control package including new digitally controlled, high efficiency burners being installed on two of the four boilers, these being Cleaver Brook fire tube configuration
